Is it just me, or are we getting more and more end-of-the-world movies these days? Used to be a time when flicks like ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Deep Impact’ were outside the norm, but…here we go again—this time courtesy of writer/director Adam McKay, who steers an all-star cast (Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Johan Hill, and many more). It will instantly bring to mind the smart, based-in-truth humor of McKay’s excellent ‘The Big Short’, but there’s a point where satire crosses the line into absurdity, and ‘Don’t Look Up’ goes there more often than it should.
