The David Gordon Green-helmed trilogy comes to an end with a sometimes-fun but ultimately unsatisfying conclusion, as Jamie Lee Curtis—playing Laurie Strode one last time—ties a ribbon on the whole pesky Michael Myers thing. Sure, it’s a solid slasher in its own right, but is this really what we’ve been building toward this whole time? We get an absurd, out-of-nowhere new character, a head-scratching scarcity of our favorite knife-wielding villain, and a wrap-it-up-quick ending—all of which combine to end this trilogy (which had all the promise in the world after Green’s 2018 fun kick-off) with a disappointing whimper instead of the big bang that it (and we) deserved.
