Ben Affleck directs this dialogue-driven nostalgia trip back to the early days of Nike, when the company bet everything on the extremely unlikely chance that they could sign Michael Jordan. Sure, we all know how (and how well) the story ends, but Affleck continues to strut his stuff in the director’s chair—while also co-starring as CEO Phil Knight—putting together a solid film about, well, people talking other people into doing things. Matt Damon and Jason Bateman perfectly lead the way as the underlings who somehow made one of the best deals in business history happen, and despite not a lick of action (or any real suspense), they give ‘Air’ the wings to fly.
