Based on a true story, this British gem fits right in alongside other winners like ‘The Full Monty’ and ‘The Phantom of the Open’. Rory Kinnear stars as the titular community hero in his native Burnley, who decides to buck the system and try to set up his own bank in town to help the locals. Joel Fry co-stars as the lawyer sent to humor him, before realizing the guy might be onto something. It’s textbook David vs. Goliath, but a clever and hilarious script and top-shelf performances (along with a generous helping of local legends Def Leppard) make it a wholly enjoyable watch.
