Lil Rel Howery tackles what is essentially a one-man show in this sci-fi thriller about an employee who wakes up in a dirt and concrete cell and is made to push his own Sisyphus’ stone around in a circle repeatedly for unknown reasons. What might have actually worked as a half-hour episode of ‘Black Mirror’ is instead dragged out into an hour and 45 minutes of essentially the same thing over and over again—fitting given the plot, sure, but it makes for a borderline unwatchable feature-length film. Howery does quality work, but it’s not enough to overcome a script that frankly goes nowhere.
