This desert-set neo-noir is a quintessential one-room, real-time white-knuckle ride. A gaggle of folks find themselves in a 1970’s diner in the middle of nowhere waiting for a gas truck that may or may not ever come. When two gnarly bank robbers arrive on the scene, it’s only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose, and writer-director Francis Galluppi plays that for all it’s worth. Cast entirely with relative (though worthy) unknowns, the film relies on the setting and the circumstances to ramp up the tension until the powder box finally ignites… but then there’s still a half-hour to go (of a tight ninety minutes) in this twisty thriller. 4/5 stars
