Naomi Watts turns in a career-best performance as a mom coping with life after she becomes a paraplegic. The parallel storyline of the family also caring for a lost bird with damaged wings makes the film about as subtle and nuanced as a nuclear plant explosion, but there’s no denying the feel-good, tear-jerkiness at work here. It’s a sweet family film that almost requires a group hug as the credits roll.
