This gloriously awkward Indie about a young Jewish woman and all the painfully uncomfortable people and events in her life is a raw and honest, mostly real-time exercise in character-driven filmmaking. It’s as exquisitely crafted as it is tough to watch unfold. Sometimes funny, mostly heartbreaking, Shiva Baby will make you glad when it’s over, even as you appreciate all it has going for it.
