Director Shawn Levy and screenwriter Zak Penn (Ready Player One) are behind this super-fun, high-energy flick about a video game background character (Ryan Reynolds) who decides it’s time to stop being all 1s and 0s and instead come to “life”. Though it’s definitely hyper-kinetic and, at times, a bit of a sensory overload, it’s still uber-entertaining and clever. If (and only if) you can handle large doses of Reynolds, you’re in for a treat. And Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, and Taika Waititi all knock it out of the park alongside him.
