Even as a “cute little harmless throwback” to the 90s classic, this vapid remake is a disaster from the very start. Horribly unlikeable characters are only the tip of the iceberg in what winds up being exactly what you’d expect from a movie about vain, entitled social influencers. Even glorified cameos from Rachel Leigh Cook and Matthew Lillard can’t make it worthwhile. If it’s good for anything, it’s only that it will steer people back to the original.
