Based on the true story of a miraculous 2010 Mount Washington rescue, the film stars Naomi Watts as a search and rescue volunteer who, even while battling her own demons, somehow trudges up (and back down) 6,000 feet to lead a man to safety. But that’s only part of the story. What first-time scribe Josh Rollins could have presented as a low-rent Lifetime movie instead (with the help of co-directors Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert) comes off as a decent bit of moviemaking. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s still worth a watch, if only for Watts’ fantastic and committed performance.
