Jam-packed with sandpaper-dry humor reminiscent of ‘The Princess Bride’, this fantastical story about witches and sorcerers and knights and even a particularly pudgy dragon may seem like a feast for your nerdy seventh-grade self, but fear not. Directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (2018’s brilliant ‘Game Night’) have crafted, with the help of some delightful visual effects, a truly accessible and uber-fun ride—with no prior knowledge of saving throws or hit points required. Chris Pine ably leads the way (alongside Hugh Grant as the resident baddie) and is backed up by stellar support, including Michelle Rodriguez, scene-stealer Regé-Jean Page, and Sophia Lillis.
