Jennifer Lawrence leads the way (and does it brilliantly) in this tight, winning comedy from Gene Stupnitsky (‘Good Boys’). Hoping to bring their 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman) out of his shell, his parents take out an ad looking to pay an older woman to ‘date’ him. Lawrence’s Maddie answers the call, and what starts out with the promise of a raunchy sex comedy, winds up being a surprisingly cute and heartfelt little film. Lawrence, as usual, is fantastic, but it’s the chemistry between her and Feldman that sells the movie in the long run. It’s smart and funny and a refreshing break from the usual summer blockbuster fare.
