A super-fun mash-up of, say ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Scream’, this horror-comedy from director Nahnatchka Khan (‘Always Be My Maybe’), is a virtual must-see for children of the Eighties (or anyone who can happily relate). Starring Kiernan Shipka as a modern-day teen who travels back to 1987 to try to stop the murders of her own mom’s then-teen friends, it’s a clever film chock-full of meta-humor and self-referential jabs that only add to the enjoyment. It’s not a wholly original concept, sure, but it’s rarely been done as well as this.
