Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke star as a married couple taking the family on vacation to a rental on Long Island in the latest from director Sam Esmail (TV’s ‘Mr. Robot’), which takes a straightforward premise and turns it on its head to become a gripping apocalyptic film. Following a mysterious cyber attack, the homeowner (Mahershala Ali) and his daughter return to the house to escape the chaos of the city, and all kinds of creepy happenings ensue. Esmail ramps up the tension (with the help of Tod Campbell’s mesmerizing, off-kilter cinematography) to create a slow-burn thriller accentuated by top-shelf performances from the entire cast.
