The follow-up to 2021’s ‘Afterlife’ is a bitter disappointment, despite the return of all the key players (including the OG gang of BIll Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts, and Ernie Hudson). Director Gil Kenan (who also co-wrote the screenplay) seems like a lost little puppy, not sure what to do with the talent and provenance inherent in the series. The big bad (a bizarre cold-spewing god) doesn’t even make an appearance until well more than halfway through the movie and is promptly defeated without much of a fight. The rest of the film is a disconnected series of callbacks and Easter Eggs that feel as flimsy as the plot itself. Boooo.
