Like a slow-burn drama from the Coen Brothers’ playbook (think ‘Blood Simple’ or an un-quirky ‘Fargo’), this dark and violent pseudo-thriller features Scoot McNairy as a down-on-his luck salesman with a past, who teams up with his old partner in crime (Kit Harington) to run drugs in Big Sky Country. Of course everyone is double-crossing everyone else, and of course there’s no pretty little ribbon tying everything up, but the sharp script and top-shelf performances across the board from the cast (which also includes Josh Lucas and Ethan Suplee) make it a bleak and convincing winner.
