The fourth entry into the Will Smith-Martin Lawrence buddy-cop franchise follows 2020’s ‘Bad Boys for Life’ and re-teams the pair with directing duo Adil and Bilal. Though it may not have any long-term cinematic repercussions, it certainly fits nicely into the canon of the franchise and does exactly what it sets out to do – be big and loud and sometimes funny. Some of it falls flat, and some of it hums right along, but a generous helping of winks and nods (including a quick Michael Bay cameo and a scene where Lawrence slaps Smith’s face repeatedly) certainly helps make it a worthy successor.
