Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman star in this forgettable rom-com from director Richard LaGravenese (‘Beautiful Creatures’) that feels like a little bit of a step up from a gooey Hallmark flick – but not by much. Efron is super-famous movie star Chris Cole (insulted by the term ‘celebrity’) who falls for Kidman’s Brooke. Naturally, this is much to the chagrin of Brooke’s daughter Zara (Joey King, in one of the film’s few bright spots), who is Chris’ personal assistant. If the two leads shared even the smallest amount of chemistry, many of the film’s tropes and lazy plot points might have been forgiven, but alas.
