The rise and precipitous fall of what was once the world’s most popular smartphone company gets the big-screen treatment in a gripping, inventive, and sneaky-funny film by Indie darling Matt Johnson. Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton star as (respectively) the brains and the money behind the now-busted company, and Johnson’s take-no-prisoners script and almost voyeuristic shooting style give us what feels like in-the-room access to one of the most spectacular collapses in business history. Reminiscent of ‘The Social Network’, it’s a fascinating take on how greed, backstabbing, and technology can come together with disastrous consequences.
