Based loosely on the true story of the hunt for the man who abducted and murdered a young Australian boy in 2003, this dark, atmospheric suspense flick from director Thomas M. Wright is instantly reminiscent of Denis Villeneuve’s brilliant 2013 film ‘Prisoners’. Sean Harris stars as the suspect, and Joel Edgerton is the undercover cop who’s leading the sting operation to bring him in. It’s a slow-burning, haunting, where-will-it-go-next triumph, highlighted by outstanding performances from its two underrated leads.
