Returning to your hometown only to run into your ex on the eve of his wedding isn’t exactly a unique plotline, and it’s most of what dooms this forgettable Amazon original, even though it seems to think it’s a quirky little Indie. Written by the husband-wife team of Dave Franco and Allison Brie (and directed by Franco and starring Brie), it’s only a few steps above a Hallmark movie, assuming the studio had an after-dark division. Among the few bright spots is the mini-‘Community’ reunion, with Brie’s former co-star Danny Pudi on board as the ex’s best friend and the movie’s moral compass.
