The latest from documentarian Errol Morris is a deep dive into the mind of John Le Carré, arguably the world’s most acclaimed spy novelist. More than just a birth-to-death account of the author’s life, however, the film plays almost as a therapy session, as Morris uncovers Le Carré’s motivations, fears, and long-held childhood traumas to offer a complete portrait of the artist behind such classics as ‘The Spy Who Came in from the Cold’ and ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’. It’s a fascintating journey, shot as only Morris could, and a captivating, probing account of a wholly interesting man.
