Put four dozen of America’s greatest pop artists together in one room for one night, and there’s bound to be some good stories there. And yes, indeed, there were. Chronicling the recording of USA for Africa’s ‘We Are the World’ charity single in January of 1985, this documentary is a fascinating look back at the night when producer Quincy Jones famously demanded everyone ‘check their egos at the door.’ New interviews from Bruce Springsteen, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, and many, many others (along with revealing archival footage of the night itself) help make the film a highly entertaining nostalgia trip, putting you right-smack in the room where it happened.
