I’m not convinced the world needs yet another big ol’ monster movie, but the Legendary MonsterVerse keeps spitting them out. This latest, the fifth in the franchise, is the weakest and most unnecessary of the bunch—though fans of the genre will, no-doubt, get all they need from it. Yet again, rivals Godzilla and King Kong must join forces to fight common enemies (this go-round, it’s Skar King and Shimo), and the effects are spectacular, of course, but that’s about as far as it goes. It’s a big bad summer popcorn flick (despite hitting theaters in March), and if it’s the kind of thing that’s right up your alley, then by all means…
