Based on the true story of the annual Homeless World Cup soccer competition, this feel-good Netflix original stars Bill Nighy as the coach of the England squad. All the standard tropes abound, but dang it, this thing’s actually pretty good. Sure, at its core it’s a fairly basic underdog sports story, but Nighy (as usual) shines, and Micheal Ward is great as the movie’s focal point—a young man who’s coming to grips with his place in the world. Director Thea Sharrock (‘Me Before You’) gets you cheering from the couch even though you know exactly where the movie is headed.
