What could have been a fairly standard detective-suspense flick is upped a level when the drought-stricken Australian Outback becomes a character in and of itself. Mysteries swirl around the film, which stars Eric Bana as a town pariah returning after 20 years to help solve a grisly crime. It’s raw and gritty and moody and bleak, like something out of the Taylor Sheridan playbook. It’s also brilliant and fascinating.
