This black comedy stars Patton Oswalt as Chuck, a father who catfishes his son Franklin (James Morosini) after being cut off and feeling like he has no other way to stay in touch. Based incredibly on Morosini’s real life, it’s often cringe-inducing (obviously), especially as Franklin starts falling for the young woman whose profile Chuck made up online. But there’s also a decent amount of heart at play here, and the film is anchored by rock-solid performances at the top. It’s certainly not for everyone, but fans of quirky Indie cinema will find plenty to enjoy.
